The tradition

Since my parents divorced, I tried to keep alive the tradition of my father in Independence Day holidays: the barbecue. Well, almost every weekend of summer my dad made barbecued meat, but in these date, the barbecue is like a tradition (I mean, make the barbecue). Often I helped to my father with it and we usually made “choripan”, that is a bread with a “chorizo” or “longaniza” inside. I always ate two or three of these and then we lunched with all the family (My parents, my sister and I). I love this “tradition” because, until my parents divorced, announced the beginning of the barbecue periods.
Other thing that we usually did in these days, was go in family to the “fondas” and played typical games, like “la rana” (the frog), that consist on throw a little disk in a board with holes and every hole has a score, so if you make a high score, you win a price. Also, we played another but not to much typical games, like hit canes with a ball.
This year, I spend these long holidays in Valdivia, with my boyfriend’s family. In there, most of the times they don’t do anything, but this year I wake up early and with my boyfriend’s father, we made a barbecue, ate “choripanes” and lunched the meat with all the family, in this case, my boyfriend and his brothers, parents and me. In the afternoon we went to “Parque Saval”, where were the “fondas”. As the tradition, I played “la rana” and other games, so I enjoyed these Independence Days holidays, cause I could keep the tradition alive.

Our vacations

I think that every year, everyone look forward to the holydays arrive. It’s the moment of the year when you don’t have to work or study and you can spend time doing things that you love. In my case, I love travel and if I have to say which one has been my favorite vacations, I think that is my last trip to La Serena.
The first thing you must know it’s that I’m from La Serena, so this isn’t a new place for me. The reason why this vacations were special, is because this were my first vacations with my boyfriend, and the first time that he travel so far from his home (in Valdivia), so I have the opportunity to show him why I love La Serena.
We where to La Serena the summer of 2012, it was a long trip, I get dizzy in the bus and Miguel (my boyfriend) get a  little sick, other than that, was a nice and long trip. In the city, we stay in my grandparent’s house and go to the beach many days. We stay for one week and apart from the beach we go to some museums, the zoo and an expositions in Gabriel González Videla square. The special of this vacations were that I have so much fun stilling in the water until our foots and hands were wrinkled.
As I said, the amazing of this vacations were that I can show La Serena to Miguel, and lay in the sand, a perfect thing for rest (and get burned with the sun jaja).

Greece

All one has a place who wants to visit at least one time in the life. Sometimes we admire a country or a city, and this place can be in other country or not. In my case, I have many places that I want know, but I think that the country I can’t miss it is Greece. Yes, nowadays this is a country in a several crisis, so I don’t know if I will go there right now… but why Greece? For the cheese? No.
The story of my love for Greece starts when one of my dream was been an Archeologist, when I was like 13 years old. I just want to go and look for fossils and lost stories about the Greeks. In this country, I think that the most interesting tourist attraction are the Gods Temples… but I really don’t know if they still exist or can be visited. Other interesting thing that I would like to do, are visiting museums and archeological places.
The things that I know about Greece, is that this country has many islands, each with some charm, starting with “Creta”, the island where the greek civilization start his history. Other island are, for example, Skiathos, Skopelos and Santorini and the things that call my attention the most, are the houses of these island, cause everyone are white, like build it in stones. But all of the houses are some detail that differences it from the house of the others island. In Santorini, the roofs are light blue and in Skiathos are red.
If you ask me if I want to live there… Many years ago I would say: yes, of course, but nowadays I would say no (with pain in my heart), the country is in a very bad moment. I will go to Greece only for an awesome vacations.
